Dr. Erdem Cuce was born in 1985 in Ispir, Erzurum. When he was only 2 years old, his family moved to Rize, and his childhood passed in this magnificent city. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Ataturk Primary School, Mehmet Akif Ersoy Secondary School, and Rize Anatolian High School, respectively. In 2002, he joined Uludag University, and he graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering with an honors degree. In 2006, he started his M.Sc. in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University. Through the completion of a research project funded by TUBITAK, he graduated from the said program in 2009 with high honors degree. In 2011, he was awarded Doctoral Research Scholarship by the Turkish Ministry of Education, and he went to the UK for his higher education.
Dr. Erdem Cuce has received his Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham in 2014 in sustainable energy and building technologies. Following his Ph.D. degree, he has conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Nottingham on innovative greenhouse systems. He has worked on numerous scientific projects in the scope funded by notably EU, TSB, DECC, EPSRC, British Council, TUBITAK, and international-based commercial companies. His main interest areas of research are low/zero carbon technologies for buildings, solar thermal and hybrid PV/T systems, energy-efficient greenhouse systems, green roofs and facades, thermal superinsulation materials, nano-coating solutions, innovative windows, smart and thin-film PV glazing, thermal comfort, thermal energy storage, thermoelectric coolers, cost-effective cooling systems, solar chimney power plants, nano-enhanced biofuels, enhanced heat transfer, advanced thermodynamics, and applied mathematics. He has strong numerical, computational, experimental, and simulation skills as well as comprehensive CFD techniques based on UDFs for thorough performance assessment of physical systems. Currently, he is the author or co-author of over 150 scientific papers notably in high-impact SCI journals and prestigious international conference proceedings. He has achieved a Utility Model Award from Turkish Patent Institute with the work entitled “Fresnel lens driven instant and efficient domestic hot water producer”. He has edited a significant number of books/book chapters notably on the field of energy and sustainability. Dr. Erdem Cuce has come back home in 2016, and he is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Recep Tayyip Erdogan University. He is also working as an expert in energy optimization, energy conservation, and energy management strategies in a consultant role.

Dr. Erdem Cuce has received the MFP degree (Master’s Foundation Programme) in Engineering from the University of London. He has joined the programme in 2011, and successfully completed in 2012. During the said orientation program, he has taken several courses from different disciplines and successfully passed each of them. He managed to graduate from this 9-month training program in just 3 months.
Dr. Erdem Cuce has spent three years on his M.Sc. research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University. During his M.Sc. research, he has worked as the main researcher of a scientific research project entitled “Thermodynamic analysis of the effectiveness of different types of PV modules for wet conditions“. Comprehensive experimental and numerical analyses have been conducted for electrical and thermal modelling of PV systems under different climatic conditions.
Dr. Erdem Cuce graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering with honors degree in 2006, and the really tough education system of Uludag University has played a key role in the further academic success of Dr. Erdem Cuce.
